Team Curse will no longer take part in competitive Call of Duty.

Biography

A Dip into a New eSport

Back in 2013, Curse was already a well-known organization in the eSports community before they picked up their Call of Duty team. Before MLG Dallas Curse decided to pick up Team Dare, which consisted of Ryan "Fatalize" Bogucki, Alex "Rizma" Lopez, Bryan "Apathy" Zhelyazkov and Aaron "CMPLX" Vetelino. The team then went on to MLG Dallas under the Curse organization. They started off strong beating Dare Rising, however they went on to lose to vVv Gaming and Quantic Gaming, making a disappointed start to Curse’s road in CoD eSports. They went in to the next event, the 2013 Call of Duty Championship, with a point to prove, but they again struggled to make an impact, finishing 17-24th. Following these disappointing finishes there were major team changes, with Apathy, Rizma and Fatalize all gone with the new team being CMPLX, Blfire, LyaR and TwiZz. This team went into MLG Anaheim hoping to turn Curse’s luck around in CoD eSports and managed to do so with a vast improvement finishing 4th, taking away $2,300 and beating Dare, vVv Gaming and UNiTE Gaming in the process. The next tournament they attended was UMG Atlanta where they could only secure a top 8 finish, beating teams such as Fearless Under Fire and FaZe Clan before crashing out at the hands of SoaR Gaming. They managed to finish the Black Ops 2 season strong, taking a new roster with MiRx instead of LyaR to UMG Dallas where the finished 3rd, taking home $2,000. This was arguably against a weakened set of opponents with the MLG Fall Invitational taking place on the same weekend, meaning that none of compLexity, OpTic Gaming, UNiTE Gaming or FaZe Clan were present.

Moving into the Ghosts Season

Before the first event of Call of Duty ghosts there were many roster changes that took place within Team Curse. Two teams were formed, Curse Las Vegas and Curse New York. Curse LV consisted of Parasite, MiRx, NameLeSs and StaiNViLLe while Curse NY consisted of John, ASSASS1N, Blfire and TwiZz. Both teams, particularly Curse LV went into MLG Columbus with very high hopes. However, Curse LV lost to Team KaLiBeR to put them in the losers bracket before being knocked out by Strictly Business while Curse NY also crashed out leaving both teams placing outside of the Top 8. Following this Curse LV dropped StaiNViLLe to pick up Parasite and MiRx’s former teammate on Fariko.Impact, KiLLa. This team went into UMG Philadelphia with even higher hopes than MLG Columbus and came through with a 3rd place finish, taking home $3,000 after losing to Team KaLiBeR. However, the team remained dominant online, taking 1st place in the online MLG Winter Championship, but struggled to put those finishing touches into their LAN performance. They then had another roster shuffle, with Parasite leaving for OpTic Gaming and the acquisition of StuDyy to take his place. Within a few days, Parasite and Ricky rejoined Curse LV in the place of NameLeSs and StuDyy. Curse NY also made some major changes, ending up with a team of Burnsoff, Mochila, Revan and Blfire. Both teams then went into the Call of Duty Championship Regional LAN Qualifiers to qualify for the $1,000,000 prize pool better known as the Call of Duty Championship. Curse LV had suffered major turmoil in the run up to his event, with Parasite and KiLLa constantly arguing, which many people speculated would cost them at the Call of Duty Championships. Curse LV were up against Rise Nation in round 1 of the winners bracket, but suffered a shock defeat that put them down into the losers bracket. Curse NY then suffered defeat at the hands of Team JusTus, meaning that the two Curse teams would face off in a family feud with the loser not qualifying for the Call of Duty Championships. The match went to a game 5, with Curse NY coming out on top. However, they would still have to beat OpTic Gaming for the chance to compete in LA for their share of the $1,000,000. They lost 3-1 leaving the Curse organization with no teams in the Call of Duty Championships. This obviously led to a massive roster shake up with Season 2 of the online CoD league coming up. Eventually, Curse became two teams - Curse Black and Curse Orange. The roster of Curse Black was Tipsy, Burnsoff, Mochila and Enable while the roster of Curse Orange was Muddawg, Crowster, Miyagi and Attach. Both teams went on to UGC Niagara; however, both teams had very poor events. Curse Orange lost both of their matches against VexX Gaming and OpTic Nation while Curse Black beat JusTus in the losers bracket, but lost to EnVyUs and OpTic Gaming leaving both teams out of the Top 8. Curse Orange managed to qualify for the MLG X Games invitational via pro points but had a disappointing event, coming 6th out of 8. The teams had mixed results in Season 2 of the Online CoD league. Curse Black found success and qualified for the MLG Anaheim Championship bracket while Curse Orange did not and found themselves in the Open Bracket fighting for their share of $10,000 and a place in Season 3. At Anaheim the teams once again had very mixed fortunes. Curse had an excellent event, finishing 4th after making an excellent losers bracket run beating FaZe Red, Epsilon eSports and Team EnVyUs before losing to TCM Gaming. Curse Orange on the other hand failed to place in the Top 4, meaning that they did not qualify for Season 3 of the MLG Online League, leading to the whole team being dropped. Curse Black, now just known as Curse, suffered some complications leading up to Gfinity 3. Tipsy had passport issues, which meant that the team had to play with Crowster as a fill in. This led to a very disappointing finish at G3, after scraping through the group and losing their quarterfinal 3-0 to eventual winners EnVyUs. They then went in to UMG Dallas hoping to replicate their MLG Anaheim performance, but could only come away with a 7th-8th finish, after being knocked out by OpTic Nation.

Entering a Different Continent

Curse AU, formerly TRIDENT T1 Dotters, was formed two months before the 2014 Call of Duty Championship. The team consisted of their captain Iskatuu, Chilean, Denz and Damage. They won the ANZ Regional Finals, defeating Team Immunity in the final to earn the top ANZ seed at the World Championship, ending Immunity's event win streak in the process. At Champs, the team finished top of Group D with a 3-0 record, which featured FaZe Clan, SK Gaming and Aztek Gaming. Following pool play, the team faced Vitality.Returns in the first round of bracket play, whom they defeated 3-1 and proceeded to play Rise Nation, again coming out on top, this coming out on top 3-2. In Round 3 of the bracket, the came up against OpTic Gaming, a team many predicted to win the entire event. OpTic proved to be too strong for the T1 Dotters squad, losing 3-1. They dropped down to the Loser's Bracket where they would come up against Team EnVyUs. They lost 3-0 to EnVyUs, finishing in 5th place taking home $70,000. In April, following their impressive 5th place finish at the CoD Champs, the team was picked up by the Curse organisation, leaving TRIDENT behind. They became the third Curse team along with Curse Black and Curse Orange. At ACL Brisbane 2014, the team finished second to Immunity. Having lost in the Grand Final, it meant that Immunity earned a spot for the upcoming MLG Anaheim event a few weeks later. However, Immunity were unable to attend the event, which meant that the Curse squad were now invited to the event in Anaheim, CA. The team did not perform well at the event. They lost their first round match against FaZe Black 3-0. They then dropped into the loser's bracket where they faced Epsilon eSports. The team didn't play to their usually high standards as they lost 3-0 to Epsilon. They placed 9th-11th at MLG Anaheim, taking home $3,000. In August 2014, the team released Chilean. They cited team conduct rules as the reason why he was released. The team picked up Louqa, who won the previous ACL event with Team Storm.
